Stephanie Bedwell-Grime

Stephanie Bedwell-Grime credits her love of dark fiction and mystery to growing up in a house beside a graveyard. Although she never did meet a ghost there, it did get her thinking about things that go bump in the night. She is the author of more than thirty novels and novellas, as well as numerous shorter works. She has been nominated five times for the Aurora—Canada’s national award for speculative fiction. Her novelette Fireworks at Dusk won a Readers’ Choice Award from Evernight Publishing.

Anthony Bidulka

Anthony Bidulka has developed a body of work that often features his Saskatchewan roots and underrepresented, diverse main characters. He tells serious stories in accessible, entertaining, often humorous ways. Going to Beautiful is the 2023 winner of the Crime Writers of Canada Award for Best Crime Novel and also won the Independent Publisher Book Award as the Canada West Best Fiction Gold Medalist. Flight of Aquavit was awarded the Lambda Literary Award for Best Men’s Mystery, making Bidulka the first Canadian to win in that category.

N.L. Blandford

N.L. Blandford is the author of four published novels. Her first three—The Perilous Road To Her (2021), The Perilous Road To Freedom (2021), and The Perilous Road To Him (2022)—are dark psychological thrillers that captivate readers and play on their emotions. Her latest, The Great Bloody North (2023), is a light-hearted comedy thriller inspired by the iconic Canadian characters Bob & Doug McKenzie. N.L. Blandford is the Canadian Ambassador for The Alliance of Independent Authors, advocating to dismantle the stigma of indie publishing.

Melodie Campbell

Called the “Queen of Comedy” by the Toronto Sun and “the Canadian heir to Donald Westlake” by Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, Melodie Campbell has won ten awards for fiction, including the Derringer and the Crime Writers of Canada Award of Excellence. Her publications include over 100 comedy credits, 18 novels, and 60 short stories. The Silent Film Star Murders, second in The Merry Widow Murders series, was released March 22 from Cormorant Books.

Alice Fitzpatrick

Alice Fitzpatrick has contributed short stories to literary magazines and anthologies and is a fearless champion of singing, cats, all things Welsh, and the Oxford comma. Her summers spent with her Welsh family in Pembrokeshire inspired the setting of the Meredith Island Mystery series. She was a third of the way through the first draft of Secrets in the Water, the first book in the series, when she realized this story of lost family history was inspired by her own family. Alice lives in Toronto but dreams of a cottage on the Welsh coast.

Kate Freiman

Kate Freiman is a multi-award-winning, USA-Today Best-Selling author of romantic suspense, contemporary romance, high fantasy, and paranormal romances. Originally from Connecticut, Kate has lived in Toronto for many years. She served several terms as President of Toronto Romance Writers and even more terms as President of the Toronto Chapter of Sisters in Crime. Kate holds a Master’s Degree in English Literature; her thesis is on the detective stories of the British Golden Age. She teaches workshops on various aspects of writing.

Karen Grose

Karen Grose is from Toronto, Canada. Her debut novel, The Dime Box, was selected by Amnesty International for its 2021 Book Club. Her second, Flat Out Lies, was released in July 2024. All June Left Behind is coming Spring 2025. She has flash fiction, poetry, and short stories in journals and anthologies, both in print and online.

Madeleine Harris-Callway

Madeleine is an award-winning author of primarily short crime fiction. Her novel Windigo Fire was a finalist for the CWC’s Best First Novel Award. In 2013, she and Donna Carrick co-founded the Mesdames and Messieurs of Mayhem, who have released six anthologies—each with “13” in the title—most recently The 13th Letter.

Marilyn Kay

Marilyn Kay’s crime fiction began with a short story in the 2017 Bouchercon World Mystery Conference anthology. Since then, she has published three more stories in crime anthologies and has a fifth on submission. Previously, Marilyn was a freelance journalist and Ontario government communications officer, where she won an Amethyst Award for her work with the Child Welfare Secretariat. She is currently seeking representation for her novel Love Thy Neighbour. She is a member of Crime Writers of Canada, Sisters in Crime, and the Mesdames of Mayhem writers’ collective.

Rob McCartney

Rob’s interest in crime fiction stems from his days as police beat reporter at The Sun Times daily newspaper in Owen Sound, Ontario.

Lynne Murphy is the author of Potluck and Other Stories and numerous short stories. Her work is usually humorous, though murder and mayhem often creep in. She is a member of Crime Writers of Canada, the Mesdames of Mayhem, and Sisters in Crime.

Nanci M. Pattenden

Nanci M. Pattenden is an author of historical crime fiction and light urban fantasy. She currently has three series: The Detective Hodgins Victorian Mysteries, Generation Witch trilogy, and D.E.M.ON. Tales. She is a member of Sisters in Crime, Crime Writers of Canada, and the Writers’ Community of York Region. Nanci has completed the Creative Writing programs at both the University of Toronto and the University of Calgary.

Lorna Poplak

With a background in law, literature, information technology, and technical communications, Lorna Poplak has written medical and scientific articles, travel pieces, short fiction, and a radio play. Her two true crime books are Drop Dead: A Horrible History of Hanging in Canada (2017) and The Don: The Story of Toronto’s Infamous Jail (2021), which was shortlisted for both the Crime Writers of Canada Award of Excellence and the Heritage Toronto Book Award. On the Lam: Great (and Not So Great) Escapes from Prison is due out in Fall 2025.

Silva was born in Italy and raised in Toronto. She served 20 years as a Military Policewoman in Europe, the Middle East, and Canada. Silva currently works as a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Marriage and Family Therapist. She has been writing since childhood.

Carolyne Topdjian

Carolyne Topdjian is a MARTY Award-winning suspense writer and author of the gothic novels The Hitman’s Daughter and The Black Moth. She has published short fiction in PRISM International, Dreamers Magazine, and Firewords Quarterly, and was shortlisted for the Ghost Prize by Fractured Literary. She holds an interdisciplinary PhD from York University and is a recipient of the Canada Council for the Arts and Mississauga Arts Council creation grants. An advocate of arts education, she teaches in the Faculty of Media, Creative Arts, and Design at Humber College.
